Dead soft or annealed sterling silver sheet has a Vickers Hardness rating of 66-76. It is relatively easy to make your silver dead soft by simply annealing with a torch or in a kiln; however it is more difficult to take dead soft sheet and harden it, let alone make it exactly 1/2 hard. Sterling Silver is a traditional alloy of .925 silver and .075 copper.
