A charming small Japanese mixed metal box Crafted from solid bronze or brass, exquisitely decorated with copper motives featuring finely elaborated Ikebana arrangements and little birds, sparrows maybe Hinged lid, well closing and sturdy Diminutive size, suitable for snuff or pills Unmarked, but possibly made by Nogawa Noboru workshop in Kyoto Nogawa Shoten (能川商店, Shoten means shop) was founded in 1825 in Kyoto. Nogawa acted both as a manufacturer and dealer, and in addition to the workshop, had showrooms in the Kyoto Hotel and the Miyako Hotel, the city’s most exclusive hotels at the time.
