Melothria scabra is commonly referred to as cucamelon, Mexican miniature watermelon, Mexican sour cucumber, Mexican sour gherkin, mouse melon, or pepquinos. From the vines, small cucumbers that look like baby watermelons will emerge. The melons will grow to be 1 to 2 inches long but are best harvested when they are approximately 1 inch in length.
