Love the contrasting forms of grid and disks in this quilt pattern that's - perhaps colloquially - know as "Snowball."
As for the less conventional color palette, it's inspired by two sources.
The first was the collection of hand-made holiday cards gifted to a single New York City family by their artist friends in the 1930s (part of the collection at the Museum of the City of New York). Subjects ranged from exotic to abstract to pure fantasy but all delivered unmistakably joyous through their palette alone.
The second was a gift of small works by the Boston artist Susan Porter whose strictly abstract works play with seemingly unnatural juxtapositions that ultimately dazzle.
All metallic colors are hand-applied/bronzed.
“Bronzing” is a method of applying color (in this case, metallic colors) to ink on paper. Dry pigment powders are applied to fresh ink with a brush before the ink, itself, has the opportunity to dry. While labor-intensive, the method is - to me - preferable to printing with metallic inks because of the resulting soft finishes, transparency and potential for color-shifting and iridescent effects.
Folded (blank inside) cards measure 3-1/2 x 4-7/8 inches (A-1) and come with square-flapped white envelopes.
All papers are 100% post-consumer recycled material from French Paper.
Cellophane packing envelopes are also biodegradable, plant-based material.
