Pack of 10 Vintage Unused US Postage stamps of the: 13c North Carolina State Flag stamp of 1976 Issued February 23, 1976 Scott catalog #: 1640 In the fall of 1775, the Revolutionary Council of Safety asked for a flag for the use of South Carolina troops. Colonel William Moultrie chose a blue that matched the color of his men’s uniforms and a crescent that copied the silver emblem worn on the front of their caps. The palmetto tree was added later to represent Moultrie's heroic defense of the palmetto-log fort on Sullivan's Island against the attack of the British fleet on June 28, 1776. These stamps are one of a set of 50 different stamps printed on a sheet of stamps depicting the State Flags of each of the 50 United States and are usually sold as a complete set. I have broken several sheets up to allow customers to choose from their favorite states to use for their special mailings. 10 Mint unused postage stamps with original gum as issued by the Post Office. These stamps are genuine and valid to use as postage for current mailing. Be sure to use enough total postage to meet the current postage rate for mailing a letter if you want to use them for mailing.
