PET packaging, i.e. the plastic bottle, must be washed before use, the cap and label must be removed from the bottle, and the part of hard plastic intended for the stability of the plastic bottle must be removed from the bottom of the bottle. The second part of the preparation refers to cutting the bottom of the bottle, which is then passed through a cutter that is set to cut the required width of the tape. Due to the different wall thicknesses of the plastic bottle, the cutter has the function of adjusting the width of cutting strips of 5, 6, 7 and 8 mm, in order to obtain the optimal amount of PET material at the entrance to the heating block. If the cutter is used for the purpose of cutting PET tape for the production of PET filament - the width of the PET packaging tape ensures uniform heating, and bending and finally joining the material into a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 1.75 mm, which is the standard diameter of factory filaments. The knife blade used for carving is shown in the pictures and is a standard knife blade. Only one torn blade is used in the knife block.
