Seeing cloth hand woven on a foot-pedal floor loom versus on a traditional backstrap loom was a novelty as was the Indian weaver. Dayabhai traveled a very long way from his home in Bhujodi, India, to attend the Tinkuy, the international weaver’s gathering in Cusco, Peru. Non-Spanish speaking, hand weaving was the common language. The highland Peruvian weavers watched his hands move as they made intricate patterns with cotton and silk thread, so unlike their traditional work.
