This Kogatana whittling knife manufactured in Japan by Michihamono is made from SK steel that contains various alloys, including manganese, that enhances the steel's hardness, silicon for increased strength, and chromium for improved edge retention and wear-resistance. The handle is wrapped from cowhide leather that is comfortable to use, as it prevents the tool from slipping when you are using it. The leather wrap makes it easy to grip. It is convenient for roughing out at the beginning of wood carving with its knife-like build. It is also great for grafting and chip carving.
