About this Image:

I was thrilled to see this painting as a participant in the 11th International Art Competition. As I paint, I always listen to EFY music, which stands for especially for youth. Even now, as a grandfather, the EFY songs speak to my heart. They ‘sing the art’ out of me. The words lift my spirit, and I rejoice as I paint. This painting, “Rejoice”, is how I feel as I paint while listening to EFY music. It's a joyful experience that is part of each day. Rejoice is about our father-child relationship with God. It expresses gratitude for the works and wonders of a loving Heavenly Father. He invites us to rejoice. Even amid hard trials and apparent failures, despite grief and pain, I have felt the call of my God to rejoice. The blue in this piece represents putting our fear and doubt behind us. When we face the Lord, we face away from fear. The gold in this picture represents the abundance of comfort that comes to those who call upon the Lord. This painting is a significant artwork because I discovered my love for texture. Since painting this, I’ve embraced texture in all the pieces of art that have followed.
