I'm not normally one for stabilized wood, as they are typically way overpriced, and I have my own techniques for stabilization when it is necessary. This general aversion usually goes double for COLOR stabilized woods (gilding gold, painting the lily, etc.). This black ash burl, which has been vacuum stabilized with a blue acrylic, is absolutely gorgeous. It has a beautiful range of blue colors and a depth that is hard to capture in pictures. It is also extremely easy to work with.
