Learn more about Sawyer's Online Sewing Classes. Discover a wonder-filled world of kids activities online & in your neighborhood!

This Pre-Beginner Sewing class is specially designed for kids aged 7 and it teaches both hand sewing and machine sewing. Projects are age appropriate using felt fabrics, we keep the machine speed low and we don't use irons at this level.

Students can join this class twice in order to complete all of the projects before moving up to the Beginner Sewing level where we teach machine threading, trouble shooting and we will move on to work with woven fabrics and irons.

Projects: Assorted felt projects including a selection of music pillow, tic-tac-toe travel pouch, pencil case, bookmark, keychain, simple tote bag or crossbody bag and our adorable Hedgehog House. We like to incorporate at least one seasonal project especially around Halloween and Valentine's Day!

This hand sewing class is perfect for girls and boys ages 5-8 with no previous sewing experience! We teach students the basics of sewing safety & hand sewing while they have a blast making adorable projects.

It's a lovely way to wind down and decompress after a long hard day at school!

In this Beginner Sewing class for kids 7-10 and a parent/grandparent, students learn how to use a sewing machine and hand sewing basics.

The beginner projects we will be working on are:

Introductory Felt Pouch
Initial Tote Bag
Mug Rug

If you are signing up for a second session the projects are:

Waist apron
Layercake Basket

For students who have already attended both of these sessions you will be moving on to another project which could be an quilted decorative mat, pillow or other project which will be determined by Sew Happy, it will be fun no matter what!

Students should join this class twice in order to complete both projects before moving up to the Intermediate sewing level.

Beginners ages 11-14 should join a Beginner Sewing For 11-14 year olds, sewing class.

Projects: Personality Pillow, Charm Square Apron

Additional Info: - Class size limited to 12 students, plus 2 instructors.

To join one of our Intermediate Sewing classes, the student must have completed Beginner Sewing 1 & 2 and made the Personality Pillow and Charm Square Apron. Once they have made these two projects they will have the skills required to join any Intermediate Class.

For the winter session students will be working on 2 projects:

1. Designing and creating an accessory made from sustainable materials.

2. Making a pair of fleece pajama pants using a paper pattern. (Students who have already made pajama pants (not shorts) will make a wrap skirt instead.
