"For me, accessories have become a beauty classic," says hairstylist Sam McKnight, who created both those looks. But how to pull them off like an adult? His tips: 1. Pick a relaxed style—no severe updos or perfect barrel curls. "The key is to balance your accessory of choice with an easygoing hairstyle that's not too labored," says McKnight. Instead try a messy bun, loose braid, soft French twist, or rumpled mermaid waves. 2. Go for tons of texture. "Mussed-up or day-old hair keeps accessories from looking too girly or overly romantic," McKnight says. It also holds pins and clips better than super-clean hair does.
