Description

I am a historian, writer and museum professional researching at the intersection of culture, spirituality and intellectual thought in the Pan-African world.

I have written and given lectures on variety of topics including early Pan-Africanism in the Caribbean and key yet lesser-known Black/African political, cultural and intellectual leaders like Thomas Sankara, Andy Palacio and the Nardal Sisters.

My developing field of expertise is in Islamic expansion in medieval Africa, in which I have written on topics such as the Gnawa, a West African descended Islamic sect in Morocco, the story of the Ethiopian Bilāl ibn Rabah, the first mu’adhdhin in Islam, and the work of Dr. Abdel Kader Haidara, the guardian of Mali’s medieval manuscripts.

Larger aspirations consist of developing educational curriculum and cultural programming in a variety of traditional and non-traditional institutions such as universities, museums, carceral spaces, non-profit and humanitarian organizations. | Learn more about Kai Mora’s work experience, education, connections & more by visiting their profile on LinkedIn
