Responding to the needs of artists & creators, Awagami focuses on research and development in an ongoing effort to integrate washi into contemporary life. Awagami produces washi papers from natural fibers: Kozo, Bamboo, Mitsumata, Gampi and Hemp.

The Kozo sheets are brushed with natural lacquer to create a fairly thick layer of deeply toned papers suitable for crafts, art, tabletop display or as a covering for books or furniture. These are not like the offset-printed lacquer sheets sold elsewhere, but are true Japanese Urushi papersUse a strong wood-glue w/ weights to dry flat, overnight.
