Just got Vallejo Surface Primer, what am I doing wrong? : r/minipainting

Tried to airbrush a zenithal highlight, but primer was too wet straight out of the bottle and ended up filling the recesses (reverse highlight). Is this normal for these primers? : r/minipainting
